MINUTES January 15, 2018

Directors present: Marsha Putnam, Pat Brown, Chanda Donnan, Rosie Johnson, Todd Ring, Marsha Korroch, Val Lau.

Directors absent: Barb Drake, Linda Kraai.

President Marsha Putnam called the meeting to order at 4:08 PM.

November 20, 2017 minutes were reviewed. Motion by Pat Brown to approve the minutes as presented, support by Todd Ring. Motion carried.

Officer Reports:
President:
The park has completed two walk-up camp sites near the cabins with one pending completion. Camping fees have been increased by the state for rustic camping from $13 to $17 per night. Pat moved to check with Tim to have SHTRA collect $20 per night. Rosie supported and the motion carried. The rustic cabin has been increased from $68 to $101 with a $10 per fee per night.
SHTRA was selected to receive a grant from Shiawassee Trail Riders if we provide a specific project. Discussion pursued on possible projects including updating the kiosk sign and adding other signs around the park – slippery when wet posted near the bridge and Stop, Stand & Speak.
The Friends Summit will be March 2-3, 2018, register by 2/1/18. Tim will be presenting Saturday morning on how to green up your park. No volunteers stepped forward. There has been no response from Tim on donating a night at the cabin to be used at the annual
meeting & auction. Todd moved we raffle a night at the rustic cabin at $5 per ticket/chance and ask the park to match it. Supported by Val and the motion carried.
Next ETS meeting is January 24th at MSU. We must have our 2017 volunteer hours reported including estimated value of the hours and donated equipment used. Todd will create a form to use for tracking hours based on their needs.
Marsha gave Linda Arrolyo w MHDVA the okay to join us on Labor Day like they did last year.

Treasurer:
Pat Brown reviewed the treasurer’s report. Motion by Todd Ring to approve the Treasurer’s report, support by Marsha Putnam. Motion carried.
Pat pointed out that several members have made donations of all sized to SHTRA when renewing their membership. Marsha Korroch said she would mail thank you cards to those who have larger donations. Motion by Todd Ring to make more postcards with the logo to use as thank you cards, etc. Support by Marsha Korroch and the motion carried. Chanda will make the cards and have them printed.

Committee Reports:
Membership:
– 2018 membership cards will be completed by Todd. (will need approx. 120 cards for mailing)
– Todd informed that the 2017 volunteer hours were reported
Communications:
Saddle Up Magazine – Article submitted January 12th with tentative 2018 dates.
Events:
Annual Meeting – February 3rd. Hall open at noon. Set up at 1:00. Eat at 2:00. There are three 20-year memberships. Paid memberships raffle will win a bag of horse treats. Door prize (open to all) will win a 1-year membership. Cabin raffle for one night ($5 per ticket/chance). Rosie moved to purchase more table coverings, support by Pat. Motion passed. The Volunteer of the Year award was discussed. Marsha
Korroch volunteered to make decorated horseshoes the two retiring board members (Linda & Barb) as a thank you for their years of service. Reviewed events scheduled for the summer and board members volunteered dates to work.
Workbees:
No updates
Apparel:
Monograms, Etc. in Corunna has completed our order for the annual meeting with shirts, hats and jackets with our new logo.

Unfinished Business:
Tri-Fold Pamphlet: Todd will have ready for 2018 use. He will send the final draft to board members for review.
Eagle Scout Project: Chanda will send a letter to the scout master to recognize the great job Connor Brown did digging up dirt around water pump and display box, and replacing with crushed limestone. Connor is working to complete a sign-in box.
Goals/Projects: 1) Replace old kiosk map in staging area. *has to go through DNR and will cost approx. $1500. 2) figure out way to fix slippery bridges 3) mark and snip wire on island
Wayne Mears Money Collection: Benches approx. $400. Discussion tabled.

New Business:
Marsha handed out forms to give to donors when soliciting donations for the club showing our tax ID number and 501(c)(3) status.

Motion by Chanda Donnan to adjourn the meeting, support by Rosie Johnson. Motion carried. Adjournment: 6:00 p.m.
