COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD 2014

Congratulations to SHTRA for being one of 2014 recipients of the Michigan Recreation and Parks Association Community Service Award.  This is the first time that an equestrian group in Michigan has received this dedication to community service award. SHTRA’s record of unselfish donations to Sleepy Hollow State Park to finance, build and maintain equestrian trails and the supporting network of well, pavilion, staging area road and parking lots is remarkable for a nonprofit group of it’s size.  Park Management stated SHTRA’s commitments for quality of detail, accessibility for multi-users while upholding high standards for conservation and stewardship of the resources. Fifteen miles of looped trails are maintained for riding and cart driving. A first in Michigan’s parks system is a 2014 PMP project by SHTRA and the DNR is a rentable multi-use rustic cabin.  This award was received April 14, 2015. Accepting the award on behalf of SHTRA where Marsha Putnam, Barb Drake and CJ Ray.
