WAYNE MEARS MEMORIAL 2018

Wayne Mears was an exceptional and devoted trail rider who logged all his saddle hours and ride locations. He encouraged trail riders throughout Michigan to organize, adopt and protect their trails. He felt strongly that equestrians had the right to available trail mileage in parity with other user groups. Sleepy Hollow Trail Riders Association, Inc. is one of his resulting equestrian organizations. Our trails would not exist today without his influence. Wayne was from Williamston. He was an Honorary Life SHTRA member and served as a Board member of numerous trail riding groups. Unfortunately, he passed away January 27, 2017. He will always be missed by the many trail buddies left to fill his boots. His memorial sign is located on the south end of the Island.
